September 2026 — A Restored Sicilian Masseria by Viviana Haddad
Casa Due Palme, near Modica in Sicily, was once a rural farmhouse — home to farmworkers and livestock. Architect Viviana Haddad led its conversion into a summer residence, preserving original plaster, cane-and-plaster ceilings, and worn stone flooring through a conservative restoration guided by the principles of “restauro timido.” The result blends recovered materials, vintage furnishings, and tailor-made pieces within a layout that stays true to the building’s original sequence of rooms, each opening onto the surrounding countryside.
